Eastbund Fishery Demonstration Site

Located in a rural area on Chongming Island, not far from Shanghai, this project will transform several underutilized structures into a demonstration and welcome area for the client’s new fishery project in the lands surrounding the site.
While the buildings will retain the existing footprint and some of the original walls, a new dynamic roof will replace the existing, morphing to mark entrances, provide outdoor shelter, and create views over a newly built lake behind.
Aside from a small laboratory, most of the facilities will be used infrequently. Landscape, architecture, and interior design will thus be somewhat loose and natural, adopting the atmosphere of the quiet rural life that still persists on the island.
