JSA’s architectural experience was an important component in the development of the ArchForce office design. As architects of the campus in which the office was situated, we understood the structural condition off the building as well as maintained a good working relationship with the landlord. This allowed the client to make the most of their new space – digging a half basement in order to build a mezzanine whose structure needed special consideration due to the history of the existing building.
We designed the overall atmosphere of the office space to be open and casual. Finishes were likewise straightforward functional: concrete and wood floors, exposed ceilings and services, and simple paint finishes drawn from the company’s logo.
While a mezzanine space allowed the additional workstations the client desired, we also sought to create a permeability between levels using double-height punch-outs, an open stair, and glass meeting room. As a technology company, the client was accustomed to an open office and collaborative space, a model they had already used successfully in previous offices.
