The client for this project, EHome, was Microsoft’s local partner in the launch of the Xbox game console in China. The space was to combine showroom, a variety of meeting spaces, testing and collaborative work areas for contractors, shared lounge and kitchen areas, and offices for permanent staff.
While the overall design of the office and showroom was to be free-flowing, open and transparent, the client’s functions needed to be carefully arranged and controlled for security and IP protection. The public areas (showroom & meeting rooms), permanent staff offices, and temporary/contract workers each required their own zones. A fourth class of space (a sit-in kitchen, small lounge and meeting room) was shared between permanent and contract workers, but not available to public visitors.
